Each year we strive to present another aspect of our contributions to the world, and the ways in which we enrich the human condition. This year’s theme was UIC: Research and Innovation on a Global Scale.<br /><br />Through the art of imagery and words, these videos provide a window and insights into the purpose of research at UIC: to apply new knowledge to the real world to make a difference. Through these videos you will see and hear about global markets in Ghana, maternal health care in New Zealand, disease prevention in the Caribbean, medical engineering in Cambodia, and scholarly collaborations from Iceland to Vietnam. Tom Friedman, the New York Times columnist and writer, said: “(We live) In a world where the ability to imagine and generate new ideas with speed, and to implement them through global collaboration, is the most important competitive advantage.” With over 120 international agreements with universities and public and private organizations, and hundreds of informal relationships, that is what we do at UIC.<br /><br />I would like to thank all the participants and Chancellor Emerita Paula Allen-Meares for all the work they did to make the event such a success. Organizations communicate their brand both in the way they describe themselves and in the way they depict themselves visually. <br /><br />The University of Illinois at Chicago recently completed a process to refine and update its brand. With the help of students, faculty, staff and alumni, the campus community spent more than a year identifying what makes UIC a special place to dream big and work hard.<br /><br />The Office of Marketing and Brand Management is eager to support the campus community throughout the launch of the refreshed UIC brand.
