Chancellor Message: Tobacco-Free Campus

Dear Campus Community,

Today, July 1, 2013, UIC becomes a Tobacco-Free Campus.

This landmark event follows more than a year of strategy development and consultations with the President of the University of Illinois, UIC Vice Chancellors and Deans, the UIC Faculty Senate, Senate Executive Committee, and all three student government bodies.

UIC is committed to creating and maintaining a healthy, productive environment for all its students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors. Nearly 800 U.S. college campuses are tobacco-free or will become so in the near future.

UIC's tobacco-free policy (PDF) can be found in the policy and procedures section on the Human Resources website and at The policy prohibits all forms of tobacco -- cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products -- anywhere within campus boundaries.

We all are counting on everyone's courtesy and cooperation.
