Web Accessibility and Universal Design at UIC

Web accessibility at UIC

This site has been designed to help UIC webmasters create and maintain accessible web sites in accordance with UIC's official commitment to persons with disabilities, the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA), and other federal and state legislative acts applying to electronic communications. IBHE has also mandated that all public universities, including UIC, continually improve the accessibility of Web pages. To implement this mandate, the UIC Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, R. Michael Tanner, has assembled a Web Accessibility Committee to oversee the policy and procedures relating to accessibility of online information at UIC. A letter by the Provost outlines this committment (Accessible PDF: 200K).
