UIC Web Accessibility Standards
UIC requires all UIC Web sites to comply with the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act Implementation Guidelines for Web-Based Information and Applications 1.0. UIC strongly recommends newly created or redesigned sites to follow the Illinois Center for Information Technology Accessibility's (iCITA) HTML Best Practices.
If your department uses an outside vendor or consultant for Web page development or maintenance, you are responsible for your contractor’s adherence to the UIC accessibility standards outlined in this site. These standards apply to all official UIC Web pages whether or not the site is hosted on a UIC server.
Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act Implementation Guidelines for Web-Based Information and Applications 1.0
Web sites must be accessible according to the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act Implementation Guidelines for Web-Based Information and Applications 1.0.
iCITA's HTML Best Practices for Web Accessibility
iCITA's HTML Best Practices were developed by UIUC and incorporate the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act Implementation Guidelines for Web-Based Information and Applications, the Federal 508 Guidelines, and W3C Web Accessibility Standards. These best practices exceed the minimal Federal Section 508 guidelines and ensure that a site is functionally accessible.
