RE Haiti earthquake

Dear UIC Students, Faculty and Staff,

The earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday has devastated the island and claimed untold thousands of lives, with many more injured. While the dimensions of the tragedy are still unfolding, it is clear that this is one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent history. I know that all of you join me in sending our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families and friends. Many organizations, including the United Nations and the Red Cross, are accepting donations for the victims. Sue Walsh, clinical instructor in the College of Nursing, was in Haiti as part of a medical mission at the time of the earthquake and along with her teammates has been providing emergency assistance to victims.

Many people in the United States are directly affected by this calamity. UIC students who have been impacted and need assistance can contact the Counseling Service, 2010 Student Services Building, 312-996-3490, and faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Service at 312-996-3588.
