John Loya
John Loya is the vice chancellor for human resources. He is responsible for all campus human resources services, including those at the Medical Center, covering human resources policy, employee and labor relations, compensation, recruitment and retention, training, leadership development, HR information technology, process improvement, and compliance.
Prior to being named vice chancellor, John served as associate vice president for human resources of the university, and as associate vice chancellor for health affairs at UIC. Since joining the university, John led a major assessment of HR service delivery throughout the university system. He has been responsible for full HR services support to 55,000 employees in multiple locations and for collective bargaining and contract administration for 44 different labor agreements.
Among his previous positions, he was head of HR at University of Missouri Health Care; Washington University in St. Louis; University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial relations at Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Mo.
