Contraceptive Coverage

CampusCare benefits have been designed to work in conjunction with your Student Health Service fee to provide a comprehensive benefit plan. Contraceptive coverage is not currently a covered benefit under CampusCare. However, students may obtain oral contraceptives under the Student Health Service fee at a discounted rate. CampusCare and Student Health are currently working to investigate options which would make contraceptive coverage and other health benefits even more economical and convenient for students.

CampusCare is a self-funded student health benefit plan operating under the approval of the Board of Trustees for the University of Illinois. CampusCare is not traditional health insurance coverage nor a group health plan which is a major contributing factor in our ability to keep student and family medical premium cost low, and one of the most affordable in the nation. The Department of Health and Human Services does not provide oversight of our unique benefit structure including extending Affordable Care Act policies on this type of plan.

CampusCare is making every effort to mirror most of the policies under such acts and is providing most of the services required under Public Health Services (PHS) Act and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) while continuing to provide the best quality healthcare at the most affordable price.
