OverviewContinuous Quality Improvement (CQI) is the central operating strategy used at UICMC to achieve our mission. CQI tools and techniques will be used to improve both operational and clinical processes that impact delivery of every service offered. A Quality Lead Team is in place comprised of clinical and administrative leaders. This team is accountable to the CEO/Medical Staff Executive Committee. Reporting to the Quality Lead Team are three Functional Lead Teams -- Clinical Practice, Clinical Operations, and Administrative Operations. Each Functional Lead Team has a One Year Plan that details their purpose, strategies and an integration plan for coordinating their efforts with other initiatives, such as, clinical resource management and customer service. These three teams guide the formation of individual quality improvement teams that will address key organizational priorities. Priorities are identified both from the top - down (surveys and focus group research regarding satisfaction) and from the bottom - up (from people on teams that are closest to the processes). The Director of Continuous Quality Improvement oversees the development of this program at all levels. This includes providing training to all UICMC employees, facilitator support for teams, tracking and communicating results. In addition, individual departments have established quality performance indicators that they monitor regularly, which in turn may support or identify the need for a cross-functional CQI initiative.
