This year marks the 30th anniversary of the merger that created UIC, when Chicago Circle and the Medical Center campuses were combined to become the University of Illinois at Chicago.
A kick-off commemoration of the historic consolidation was held last week, with a symposium that discussed the campus' past, present and future, its place in Chicago and its impact on the world. The event was hosted by UIC Chancellor Paula Allen-Meares, left.
