Paul Francuch, a former radio news correspondent and editor with the worldwide Voice of America network, covers the College of Engineering and science departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Francuch’s career with VOA included postings in Washington, D.C., New York City and Pakistan.
Most of his career was spent in Chicago, where he was bureau chief, and in London, where he was bureau chief and senior editor for European, Middle Eastern and African news.
His reporting assignments included coverage of space shuttle launches and flight missions, including the 1986 Challenger disaster. His coverage of science-related topics included research at UIC and other Chicago-area universities.
An avid stargazer, Francuch is a member of the Chicago Astronomical Society.
He earned a B.A. in political science from Wayne State University and an M.A. in journalism from the University of Michigan.
