The Department of Pharmacology is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in the development and execution of in-vivo models for a Visiting Research Specialist position. The candidate is expected to perform in-vivo studies, tissue culture, preclinical pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies, organize data, and analyze results. This position will include working with a variety of study animals and cell cultures to study safety of new medicines. Experience in performing such studies under GLPs is desirable. This appointment may include several weekend days of work per month. This position will include working with a variety of study animals, preparing test substances, dosing animal models, monitoring the effects of test substances in animals and cell cultures, collecting biological samples, reviewing raw data notebooks, organizing the studies, performing necroscopies and recording all the data in an appropriate and ethical fashion in compliance with experimental protocols and FDA regulations. Duties include basic procedures in cellular &molecular biology, biophysics, and biomaterials. Duties may also include general laboratory oversight and management, including supply inventory and equipment management as well as set up of experiments. Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science preferred. A minimum of 3 years related research experience. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods. Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
