Speaker Professor Joe Schwieterman of the Chaddick Institute at De Paul University will share research exploring the gaps that exist in the country's intercity rail and express bus system for trips under 400 miles. He will offer perspectives on how, despite recent expansion to rail and bus service, many prominent routes remain without effective ground travel options, fostering dependence on driving or flying. He will also share an interactive tool that showcases some of the most notable gaps in the U.S. system, including several involving Chicago.
