Dr. Ayman Al-Hendy, M.D/Ph.D. at The University of Illinois at Chicago is conducting a research study looking at the experiences of women with clinical diagnosis of uterine fibroids to foster the development of better treatment options in the future.
You may be eligible if you:
1. Are ≥ 18 years old
2. Have a clinical diagnosis of uterine fibroids
3. Have not gone through menopause
4. Are receiving gynecologic care at University of Illinois at Chicago
If you are eligible and agree to participate, you will complete: Questionnaires
Interested volunteers should have not undergone hysterectomy and have no evidence of active pelvic disorder, not related to uterine fibroids (ex. endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, gynecologic cancer, or polycystic ovarian syndrome). This study involves a time commitment of approximately 20-40 minutes, in office, for the first questionnaires although all questionnaires can be completed electronically, even on a smart phone. Questionnaires need to be completed at time of enrollment, before and after any surgical intervention related to uterine fibroids, and 6, 12, 18 and 24 months post enrollment (or at the end of participation).
Volunteers will be compensated for their time.
