Larry R. Faulkner is President Emeritus of The University of Texas at Austin and is a recently retired president of Houston Endowment Inc., a private foundation established by Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones. Dr. Faulkner served on the chemistry faculties of Harvard University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Texas. At Illinois he was also Head of the Department of Chemistry, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. In 1998, he returned to the University of Texas at Austin as the 27th president and served into 2006. Faulkner served as President of Houston Endowment Inc. from 2006 until early 2012. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He serves on the board of ExxonMobil Corporation and was previously a member of the boards of Temple-Inland, Inc, Sandia National Laboratories, Internet2. From 2006 into 2008, he chaired the National Mathematics Advisory Panel by designation of the President and the Secretary of Education.
