Warren Chapman
Warren K. Chapman, Ph.D., a leading figure in corporate philanthropy and educational policy, is vice chancellor for external affairs at UIC. In this role he is responsible for all relationships with external constituents of the campus, including civic, corporate and governmental leaders in the city and state. He oversees community relations, international affairs, public affairs, marketing and the Great Cities Commitment, and coordinates those offices with development, alumni affairs, government relations, and access and equity. He is also campus liaison to higher education organizations.
Chapman was president of the Bank One Foundation and, following a merger with JPMorganChase, vice president and national philanthropic advisor for JPMorganChase. He served the Joyce Foundation as lead program officer for 10 years, and prior to that held a series of positions with the Illinois State Board of Education. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Northeastern Illinois University and his doctorate in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
As a visiting assistant professor at UIUC, he taught graduate courses in social foundations and sociology of education. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Chicago Historical Society, the Metropolitan Planning Council and Columbia College of Chicago and is a past member of the board of the Donors Forum of Chicago. He joined UIC in May 2006.
