Great Lakes Addiction Technology Transfer Center (GLATTC)

 

Mission

Unifying science, services, and education to transform lives

Target Audiences

Activities

  • Founded in 1998 and housed at the Jane Addams College of Social Work along side the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center.
  • One of 14 addiction technology transfer centers in the United States.
  • Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. It seeks to increase the knowledge and skills of addiction treatment practitioners, as well as to foster regional and national alliances among practitioners, researchers, policy makers, funders, and consumers
  • Uses educational products, training, technical assistance, information dissemination, collaboration, systems change initiatives, and other technology transfer interventions to help prepare the addiction treatment field and allied health fields for the most effective evidence-based practice

Midwest Latino Health Research, Training, and Policy Center

 

Mission

Improve the health status and quality of health-care delivery to Hispanics/Latinos and other racial/ethnic minorities in Chicago and the Midwest region through research, training, community education, and policy work

Target Audiences

  • Hispanic individuals, groups, and organizations
  • African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and other racial/ethnic minorities

Activities

  • Established in 1993
  • Develops and conducts health and human service outcome research on health disparities among Hispanics/Latinos following a community-participatory research model
  • Provides mechanisms for communication, coordination, networking, and health information dissemination among service providers and community-based organizations
  • Increases the pool of culturally and methodologically competent Latino and non-Latino faculty, students, and community practitioners in service research
  • Develops train-the-trainer and consumer-education curricula on the management and control of chronic conditions
  • Trains community health workers and professionals on cross-cultural approaches in the management and control of chronic conditions
  • Conducts policy analyses and information dissemination activities
