UE Workers vs. Bank of America
In December, 250 laid off workers on Goose Island in Chicago sat down in
their factory to demand the wages owed to them by their former employer.
They demanded that Bank of America, which held the line of credit for the
Republic Windows and Doors company, lend a small amount of the $25 billion
they had received in bail out money to the company to cover payroll for
all legally owed severance and vacation under the Warren Act . Their
fight became a national symbol of the plight of working people in the
economic crisis.
