Jenny 8. Lee and Patrick Rosal

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Listen in for a conversation with New York Times reporter Jennifer 8. Lee, author of The Fortune Cookie Chronicles, a book that explores the origin and evolution of Chinese Food in the US. She is joined by poet Patrick Rosal, author of American Kundiman. Modeling his poems on the kundiman, a song of unrequited love sung by Filipinos for their country in times of oppression, Rosal professes his conflicted feelings for America, while celebrating and lamenting his various heritages. My American Kuniman is the winner of the Association of Asian American Studies 2006 Book Award in Poetry and the 2007 Global Filipino Literary Award.
