Come hear Gautam Navlakha speak on
"The Binayak Sen Case:
Indian Democracy and its Enemies
."

DATE
March 21

TIMES
4:00 PM — 6:00 PM

ABOUT THE EVENT
Gautam Navlakha is a democratic rights activist and journalist based in Delhi. He has worked extensively in Kashmir, and more recently, on the Maoist held areas in Chattisgarh, in eastern India. His writings are often
published in Economic and Political Weekly, one of India's foremost academic publications, and at sanhati.com.

The Binayak Sen case is among the most troubling and controversial cases involving India's sedition laws. Binayak Sen is a doctor and human rights activist who was working with Adivasi communities in Chattisgarh before his arrest and subsequent imprisonment.

Representatives from the Mining Zone People's Solidarity Group will also be present to speak about the struggles in eastern India, particularly Orissa, against Posco, a multinational mining company.

Please come out and participate! This is a great opportunity to hear from
speakers who have been on the ground as witnesses to some of the important
struggles and conflicts taking place in India that are not often reported
in the west, and who have been leading participants in the important
debates currently taking place about Indian democracy.
