"Without new visions, we don't know what to build, only what to knock down. We not only end up confused, rudderless, and cynical, but we forget that making a revolution is not a series of clever maneuvers and tactics, but a process that can and must transform us." -Robin D.G. Kelley, Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination
2014 marks the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer 1964. Join UIC's Social Justice Initiative and hundreds from near and far, at the University of IL-Chicago campus to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer. "Freedom Dreams, Freedom Now" is an inter-generational gathering of scholars, artists and activists coming together to wrestle with the past and imagine and organize for a better future.
