Ph.D. Research Assistantships
Full financial support is available for highly qualified Ph.D. students to
join our research team. Current research activities in the laboratory
concentrate on polymer solutions, thin films, colloidal particle suspensions,
and fiber/nanotube/nanoparticle applications. Significant expertise
in fluid physics exists in the laboratory, with particular emphasis on
fundamental transport processes occurring at length scales ranging from
a few microns down to the nanometer level. Several PhD students and visiting researches are presently working in the laboratory.
We are seeking independent/inquisitive thinkers with superior experimental skills to participate in all operational aspects of our
research laboratory. Advance training in fluid physics is required.
Familiarity with polymer processing would
be an advantage, but is not required. The positions offer a monthly
stipend of US$1,875, full tuition, and standard graduate student benefits
(annual value exceeding US$45,000).
Sabbatical Visiting Positions
We welcome scientists/engineers from all corners of the world as sabbatical visitors for long-term stays ranging from several weeks to a full academic year (August to May). MNFTL offers rich research opportunities that cross traditional disciplines and is conveniently located near the heart of Chicago, one of the world’s great cities. Sabbatical visitors will be immersed in projects of joint interest, and will be exposed to all aspects of our research endeavor. The sabbatical visit could potentially serve as a springboard for long-term future collaboration.
