Recent Awards

 

Dulal K. Bhaumik was elected a 2008 Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) for his outstanding contributions to the development of Optimal Designs; Construction of Prediction and Tolerance Limits for Environmental Data; Hypotheses Testing for Mental Health Research; for Development of Statistical Methodology and Dissemination of Software for Analyzing Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) Data; Statistical Education through outstanding teaching and service to the profession.

Subhash Aryal received the 2008 Haenszel Research Award, which is presented annually to an outstanding student in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division. This award is acknowledged at a special awards ceremony, and the winner receives a voucher for $200 to be used for travel, books, software, or equipment relevant to their work. The intent of this award is to foster high quality research among Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division students.

Dulal Bhaumik and Robert Gibbons received the 2006 W. J. Youden Award in Interlaboratory Testing from the American Statistical Association for their Confidence Regions for Random-Effects Calibration Curves with Heteroscedastic Errors research paper published last year in the journal Technometrics.

Robert Gibbons received the 2003 Harvard Award in Psychiatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics for contributions that have significantly advanced the field of Psychiatric Biostatistics.

Don Hedeker was made a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Rong Chen was made a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Robert Gibbons was made a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

Robert Gibbons was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Robert Gibbons was elected to the Health Sciences Policy Board of the Institute of Medicine.

Robert Gibbons was elected to the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.

Robert Gibbons was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board on Organ Transplantation for the Department of Health and Human Services.

Stan Sclove was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Classification Society of North America (CSNA).

R. Darrell Bock received the 2003 American Psychological Association Division 5 Samuel J. Messick Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions.

Dulal Bhaumik and Robert Gibbons received the 2002 Youden Prize for contributions to Interlaboratory Calibration.
