Ernie Gemeinhart had his last day today. Ernie will be joining the University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL) in about a week and a half. He has been only member of the group (other than the PI, Dr. Gemeinhart) who has been at UIC since the group was founded.

Megan Hodgson, an undergraduate Biomedical Engineering major at Johns Hopkins Univeristy, joined the lab as a NIH-sponsored undergraduate research assistant.

Adrian Stecula, an undergraduate Chemical Engineering major at the Univeristy of Michigan, joined the lab as a NSF-sponsored undergraduate research assistant through the REU program in the Department of Bioengineering.

Jessica Stark, an undergraduate Chemical Engineering major at Cornell Univeristy, joined the lab as a NIH-sponsored undergraduate research assistant.
Dr. Gemeinhart participated in a grant review panel for the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) program.

Mary Tang joined the research group. She will be deciding her Dissertation project in the coming months.

Vivian Wei-Hua Chen, M.S., joined the lab as a Volunteer Research Assistant.
Kristin Thomas won 2nd place in the Image of Research competetion sponsored by the Graduate College of the University of Illinois at Chicago with her image entitled "Water water everywhere nor any drop to drink".

Mohammad Rahman successfully defended his M.S. Thesis, "Assessment of Hydrogel Parameters in Hydrogel Therapeutics".

Melanie Köllmer was selected the 1st place predoctoral (PharmD, PhD, or MS) poster at the College of Pharmacy Research Day by a panel of alumni and faculty judges for her poster entitled "Porous hydrogel scaffolds support chondrogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells".
Milind Gandhi, Ph.D. was selected the 3rd place postdoctoral poster at the College of Pharmacy Research Day by a panel of alumni and faculty judges for his poster entitled "Fabrication, characterization and in vivo assessment of superporous hydrogels".
