We are a research laboratory in the Department of BioEngineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The overall theme in the lab is to leverage experimental and computational techniques in order to understand dynamical phenomena in neurons and networks of neurons. We have a particular emphasis on how the cell biology of these neurons affects the functionality of networks and circuits.
Our interests range from basic cellular and network neurobiology to schizophrenia and neurodegeneration. Our primary experimental approaches are imaging neurons and groups of neurons in the brain slice preparation and computational simulations of neuron and brain function. We have a growing program in the development of neurotechnology devices for research.
We are grateful for current and past funding by NIH, NSF and NARSAD.
