The Joining Science and Advanced Materials Research Laboratory University of Illiniois at Chicago
The Joining Science and Advanced Materials Research Laboratory (JSAMRL) conducts advance research in Materials Science and Engineering. Our research is both fundamental and applied; active research areas include, but are not limited to: Joining science and engineering, advanced materials and processing development, sensor and health monitoring technology, materials degradation and remaining life assessment, and nanostructure materials design for sensors and micro devices. Short term industry sponsored research projects are also conducted. Materials and metallurgical engineering services and consulting are also provided by this laboratory.
The JSAMRL comprise of facilities with extensive instrumental capabilities for joining and manufacturing process of materials, metallurgical and mechanical characterization of materials, non destructive evaluation, microscopy, and materials degradation evaluation. Our laboratory has access to the high-technology equipment of UIC Research Resources Center of UIC, and the Center for Microanalysis of Materials of the UIUC.
