    2005-present Research Associate Professor. Departments of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. Research on autoimmune Multiple Sclerosis (MS) disease: 1) Research on role of the Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) proteins in apoptosis; 2) Search for autoimmune MS susceptibility genes by microarrays analysis; 3) Explore MS susceptibility genes functions using RNA interference (RNAi) techniques for evaluation of potential therapy.

    2003-2005 Research Assistant Professor . Brodie Laboratory for Craniofacial Genetics, Department of Oral Biology, College of Dentistry, University of Illinois at Chicago. 1) Investigate structure-function relationship of amelogenin and cp27 proteins. 2) Express recombinant proteins including CP27 protein, amelogenin and its domain peptides, and ameloblastin, by eukaryotic and prokaryotic expression systems, especially using baculovirus expression system. 3) Generate crystallization of amelogenin and cp27 protein for the proteins microstructure research. 4) Research function of CP27 protein in tooth development. 5) Supervise post-doctoral and junior fellows.

    2001-2003 Research Assistant Professor. Department of Physiology and Biophysics of Protein Research laboratory, Research Resources Center, University of Illinois at Chicago. 1) Express recombinant nuclear myosin-I by baculovirus expression system. 2) Research on role of nuclear mayosin-I in transcription. 3) Produce, purify, and characterize monoclonal, polyclonal and antipetide antibodies. 4) Purify recombinant proteins by immunoaffinity and HLPC purification methods.

    1999-2000 Instructor. Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care, Department of Medicine, The University of Chicago. 1) Researched on soluble HLA peptide inhibitor to treat cockroach sensitive Asthmatics. 2) Studied mechanisms to modulate T cells responses in the setting of pancreatic islet cell allgrafts into juvenile diabetic monkey.

    1997-1999 Research Assistant Professor. Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Illinois at Chicago. 1) Expressed mouse Pemphigus Vulgaris antigen (PVA) by Baculovirus Expression System. 2) Generated monoclonal antibodies against human thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) and mouse PVA. 3) Researched on developing an animal model for autoimmune thyroid disease & Pemphigus Vulgaris in order to aid understanding the pathophysiology of these diseases and to develop specific immunotherapies. 4) Supervised post-doctoral fellows.

    1992-1997 Postdoctoral Research fellow. Department of Microbiology and Immunology, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. 1) Evaluated B and T cell responses to thyrotropin receptor in human Graves' disease. 2) Generated and characterized a monoclonal antibody against the human PVA. 3) Contributed to discovery of cross reactivity of Yersinia Enterocolitica and thyroid thyrotropin receptor. 4) Promoted understanding molecular mechanism of human thyroid autoimmune disorders. 5) Expressed thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and Ku protein by Baculovirus expression system (TPO is being used in a commercial assay by General Biometrics Inc. in California). 6) Researched structure-function relationship of the human Pemphigus Vulgaris antigen protein. 7) Supervised a research associate, a graduate student, and a junior post-doctoral fellow.

    1989-1991 Visiting Scientist. Tissue Typing Laboratory, Department of Surgery, University of California at Los Angeles. 1) Analyzed in HLA serologic epitopes. 2) Researched mechanisms of graft rejection.

    1985-1989 Ph.D. Student. Department of Immunology, College of Medicine, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. 1) Researched drug-induced tolerance to allografs in mice. 2) Conducted treatment of autoimmune MRL/lpr mice with cholera toxin. 3) Studied on effect of lysimachia hemsleyana maxim in immune response.
