Professional Experience
2005-present Research Scientist. Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. Directing cDNA expression library construction from acute MS plaques and screening of these libraries with MS patient sera. Literature reviewing and data presentations relating to the project and supervising graduate and technicians.
2004-2005 Research Scientist. Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Evanston IL. CDNA library construction and expression. Immunological screening and characterization of cDNA libraries in identifying viral clones associated with multiple sclerosis diseases.
1992-2004 Senior Research Associate. Northwestern University, Evanston IL. Conducted molecular cloning and characterization of testis specific cDNA clones identified from human testis cDNA libraries by infertile patient serum. Completed intensive studies on the testis specific isoform of calpastatin and leucine rich protein. Gene construction and expression in fly trachea tub genesis.
1990-1992 Postdoctoral Fellow. Population Council, Center for Biochemical Research, New York, New York. I completed a study on the identification of an immunosuppressive factor in human seminal plasma. This factor has the property of binding specific immunoglobulin (IgG1). It is produced only by the prostate and can be used as tumor maker for prostate cancer. It may play a role in the transmission of virus, including HIV, and microorganism. Performed isolation and molecular hybridization of hCG mRNA from human testis and placenta, and serotonin mRNA from specula testis and ovary.
1985-1990 Associate Professor: Department of Biochemistry and Immunology, National Research Institute for Family Planning, Beijing China. In charge of the department and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Institute. Principal investigator on project of anti-fertility study of mouse lactate dehydrogenase C4 in active immunized mice and monkeys.
1984-1985 Postdoctoral Fellow. Northwestern University Evanston IL.Worked on project of male contraceptive vaccine development, I performed large scale purification of mouse lactate dehydrogenase C4 using affinity chromatography and investigated the specificity of this isozyme.
1982-1983 Research Associate. National Research Institute for Family Planning, Beijing China. Principal investigator of the project on contraceptive vaccine development: Antifertility effect of Gossypol and LDH-C4 (Isolation, purification and characterization and immunization in mice and monkeys.
1979-1981 Research Assistant. Department of Molecular Biology. Institute of Genetics, Academic Sciences, Beijing China. Studied molecular biology of interferon, including extraction and purification of interferon mRNA from cell cultures. Biological activity assay and translation of interferon mRNA in Xenopus oocytes.
1967-1978 Research Assistant. Institute of Genetics, Academic Sciences, Beijing China. Government projects on bacillus anthrax.
