Welcome and Congratulations to LAS Faculty

LAS launches e-AtLAS
The College’s news site for celebrating the news and achievements of its faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Award Winning Journalist and Author, Amy Goodman, will come to UIC on Thursday, September 11, to speak on The Politics of Race, Gender and Economics in the 2008 US Presidential Race."
Sponsored by the LAS Gender and Womens Studies Program, this free public event will take place at 5 p.m in the Student Center West Building at 828 South Wolcott in Chicago Rooms A-B.

LAS Faculty Searches
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is currently accepting nominations and applications for several open tenure-track positions.

LAS Interdisciplinary Research Award Program:
Call for Proposals

Each year for the next three years, the College will make available a total of $100,000/year to support proposals for interdisciplinary undertakings that involve LAS faculty. LAS seeks proposals from faculty that explicitly combine the lexicons, research agendas, and presentation techniques of more than one discipline. Proposals are due October 10, 2008.

About LAS


The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers programs in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences that enhance the educational quality and depth of all undergraduate colleges on campus. The largest of the colleges at UIC, LAS houses 21 departments and programs. They offer over 60 undergraduate major fields of specialization, 40 minors, about 50 graduate degrees at the masters and doctoral levels, and almost 1,100 courses. Students from all undergraduate colleges and many graduate programs enroll in LAS courses. Over 360 tenure track faculty teach the college’s 9,400 undergraduate and 1,300 graduate students.
