Dear Friends of LAS,

Welcome to the launch of e-AtLAS, the electronic newsletter of the UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and companion publication of AtLAS, the LAS Newsletter. Here, on a quarterly basis, we will map the important news of LAS and its constituencies—from its students and alumni, to its faculty and staff. By no accident, the debut edition of e-AtLAS coincides with the launch of the new LAS website. I invite you to visit and explore this invaluable and much anticipated resource for the College, a project that has been particularly close to my heart since I became dean in August 2007. With these initiatives, LAS is breaking new ground, going green and heading toward Brilliant Futures.

We hope, too, that you enjoy the new features that will appear regularly in e-AtLAS. The LAS Looking Glass offers a magnified and firsthand illustration of the research that our faculty and students are conducting across LAS. The LAS Library catalogs the recently published articles and books by LAS authors. We also hope that you will take part in this project yourself. Please tell us your news, or contribute your LASting Impressions of your time at UIC.
