Welcome to Modern Greek Studies at UIC.

UIC has
the largest Greek-American student population of Illinois, and Modern Greek has been taught here since 1978. In 2003 an Assistant Professor in Modern Greek Studies was appointed.

Modern Greek Studies is housed in the UIC Department of Classics and Mediterranean Studies, right in the center of Chicago.

We offer courses in the language, the literature, and the culture of Modern Greece, which can also be combined with courses in Classical Greek subjects, in archaeology, and in other Mediterranean cultures. Check out the course listings.

Students excelling in any of the UIC courses in Modern Greek Studies may also become the recipients of a Hellenic Link Midwest Scholarship.
