LAS Promotion and Tenure Schedule 2011-2012

 

Below is the schedule for all Promotion and Tenure cases and Mid-Probationary Reviews for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 2011-2012. All materials should go to 424 University Hall (Tonia Nikopoulos, tnikop1@uic.edu).

 

Schedule for ALL Departments

Date Action Required
Thursday, September 8th (third week of the term)
  • Notify the College of promotion and tenure cases and mid-probationary reviews in your unit, even if there are no cases pending. Submit the (1) Tenure-Track and Research Non-Tenure Track Expected Promotion and Tenure Reviews form AND (2) Clinical Non-Tenure Track Expected Promotion and Tenure Reviews form included in the P&T Forms packets, Part IV electronically as a PDF. Note: For faculty with joint appointments, both departments must submit a form but the home department is responsible for coordinating the P&T process.
  • Submit either (a) a statement that the departmental procedures for promotion and tenure and for mid-probationary reviews in your unit are unchanged from last year or (b) a copy of your revised procedures for promotion and tenure and mid-probationary reviews. Please highlight any changes implemented since last year. If a special committee oversees the process, please indicate how its members are selected and provide the names of this year’s members.

 

 

Schedule for Departments with Pending Cases

Thursday, September 8th (third week of the term)
  • Notify the College of promotion and tenure cases and mid-probationary reviews in your unit.   • Please refer to the College’s guidelines for promoting Clinical and Research track faculty.
  • Submit either (a) a statement that the departmental procedures for promotion and tenure and for mid-probationary reviews in your unit are unchanged from last year or (b) a copy of your revised procedures for promotion and tenure and mid-probationary reviews. Please highlight any changes implemented since last year. If a special committee oversees the process, please indicate how its members are selected and provide the names of this year’s members.
  
Thursday, September 22nd (fifth week of the term)
  • Mandatory workshop for typists preparing P&T packets in 2011-2012, 3:00pm, 401 University Hall
  
Thursday, October 6th (seventh week of the term)
  • Submit the TWO double-sided stapled photocopies of the Promotion and Tenure Forms for all cases having tenure code T-6 or lower to the College. If a student delivers the package, it must be sealed. All cases must be complete, and the department must proofread all cases. Do NOT submit the original packet.
  
Thursday, October 13th (eighth week of the term)
  • Submit the TWO double-sided stapled photocopies of the Promotion and Tenure Forms for all other cases to the College. All cases must be complete, and the department must proofread all cases. Do NOT submit the original packet.
  
Thursday, November 10th (twelfth week of the term)
  • Final deadline for submitting cases to LAS. For each case, please submit:
    1. Original, unstapled but clipped
    2. One (1) double-sided copy, stapled
    3. CD with a single word file containing Part IV Forms in which images of the scanned documents have been inserted in the correct sequence
    4. an article or chapter-length sample of the candidate’s work, also on the CD, but in a separate document
  
Wednesday, November 16th - Tuesday, December 6th
  • Copies of all cases will be available for review by members of the Executive Committee.
  
Wednesday, December 7th – Thursday, December 8th
  • Executive Committee meets to review cases. A schedule of the Executive Officers’ presentations will be distributed.
