Reporting LAS News
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is committed to bringing the news and accolades of its community members to the largest possible audience both on and off campus.
To make this happen most effectively, the College asks its faculty, staff, and students to communicate firstly and directly with the UIC News Bureau staff:
Brian Flood (Humanities and Social Sciences) (312) 996-7681
Paul Francuch (Natural and Physical Sciences) (312) 996-3457
Jeff Boynes (Economics) (312) 413-8702
The UIC News Bureau seeks and welcomes news about College of Liberal Arts and Sciences community members, programs and events for sharing on campus and with news media.
As the primary publicity resource for LAS faculty, staff, and students, the News Bureau works with news media to publicize
Research (including books, articles and significant presentations)
Public Service
Special Events
and Honors
that are newsworthy to all or most of the university's key audiences—current students, prospective students, alumni, Illinois citizens, elected officials, visitors and colleagues from other institutions. News that is of interest primarily to internal audiences may be reported in UICNEWS.
If you are publishing or presenting research findings, contact the News Bureau as soon as your paper has been accepted for publication. The News Bureau will ensure that embargoes are enforced and deadlines are met.
If you are planning an event, contact the News Bureau during the earliest planning stages, so that external and internal publicity goals can become part of the plan. Visit also the page on Publicizing LAS Events for more information about publicizing your events widely across LAS and UIC.
Please also be sure to post public events to the LAS Calendar, which links to the UIC Calendar, as well as to UIC Announce.
Information submitted to News Bureau staff will be shared directly with the LAS Dean's office and may be included in appropriate LAS communications, including AtLAS and e-AtLAS magazines or the college’s web site.
