GREETINGS: Our faculty is engaged in exciting scholarship with strong ties to the communities they study. Students will have opportunities to participate in this through research assistantships and in the many classes that encourage theoretical and interactive learning. Students will also have opportunities to participate in our study abroad programs. Through our lectures in the communities, we encourage conversations among scholars and people working and living in Chicago’s Latino communities. Job Announcements! 1) The Latin American and Latino Studies Program at UIC currently seeks a candidate in the field of Latin American social science with a focus on South or Central America. We are most interested in an outstanding and original scholar whose interdisciplinary research focuses on urban issues such as poverty, race, space and political economy. We are open to candidates from diverse interdisciplinary backgrounds such as geography, sociology and anthropology. The ideal candidate must have been awarded a Ph.D. at the time of appointment.
