Secondary Education Curricula Offered In LAS

 

The College of LAS offers State of Illinois approved programs in the areas listed below that prepare the student to teach in grades six through twelve. Students must complete all LAS basic course and major field requirements in addition to a sequence of professional courses offered by the College of Education. The required education courses include at least 100 clock hours of evaluated classroom experience and a semester of full-time student teaching in the major field. In order to receive approval to student teach, students must meet minimum grade point averages in addition to having successfully fulfilled the continuous assessment requirements. Academic advising regarding the major and secondary education requirements is available through the student's major field. Consult the College of Education section of the Undergraduate Catalog for information that applies to LAS secondary education majors, including possible restrictions for teaching in the major.
