Placement Tests
All new students take placement tests in advance of their orientation dates. These tests are intended to assure that students register for courses appropriate to their abilities in certain disciplines. As such, placement tasks are not intended to measure passing or failing efforts. Acceptance materials publish the dates for placement tests. Areas covered by the placement tests include English composition, mathematics, chemistry, foreign language, and academic skills. While freshmen must take the tests in each area, transfer students only need to take the tests in areas for which they have not fulfilled requirements.
