Exceptions to Rules and Requirements
Requests for an exception are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the College deans. Students are expected to follow the rules and requirements as stated in the catalog and exceptions are generally not approved. Requests for exceptions to policies or waivers of requirements should be discussed first with an academic advisor or college dean who will advise the student on the matter.
When a request merits consideration, the student may be asked to submit a written petition with the nature of the request and desired outcome. The petition must be accompanied with supportive documentation as appropriate. Petitions are considered regularly by the Deans Committee of the College's Student Academic Affairs Office with the decisions not subject to appeal. It ordinarily requires 3-6 weeks for a petition case to be adjudicated.
