The first major project to come to frution from the 2010 Campus Master Plan was the rejuvenation of the Chicago Circle Memorial Grove. Completed in 2014 with inputs from 40 students from the Urban Planning and Policy Student Association, the project improved the open area at the northeast corner of Taylor and Morgan streets on the East Side of campus. It replaced the deteriorating asphalt walking path, tired landscaping and old benches with permeable pavers, new outdoor seating, native plantings and other amenities. Connecting the heart of the East Side of campus with the popular Taylor Street district, the Grove is a popular campus destination and attractive gateway to the campus.
