Metabolic Dysfunction of Sleep Disorders

Dr. Herdegen directly supervises the outpatient sleep clinics at the University of Illinois which provides care for more than 1500 patients/year with the sleep laboratory performing 1000 sleep studies/year. In addition, Dr. Herdegen has participated in a number of clinical research trials involving treatment of insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep-disordered breathing including residual sleepiness after effective treatment of sleep-disordered breathing. His current research activities include study of the metabolic consequences associated with sleep-disordered breathing and the effects of bariatric surgery on sleep-disordered breathing.
