Welcome!
The Department of Health Systems Science (HSS)
at UIC focuses on health behaviors (health
promotion and disease prevention) and health systems (health
services delivery). Our department awards BSN, MS, DNP, and
PhD degrees along with a number of post-master’s and post-baccalaureate
certificate options in public health (occupational, school, community, and family nursing), mental health, and administrative nursing specialties.
Our faculty is dedicated to excellence in our undergraduate,
master’s and doctoral educational programs. We are on the
leading edge of implementing distance-learning modalities,
carefully balancing on-line learning
with face-to-face instruction.

Upon completion of the study options,
graduates may be eligible to seek certification from a variety
of national voluntary programs, e.g. the American Nurses' Credentialing
Center (ANCC).
*For nurses who already have a master’s degree in nursing, study for Post-Masters (PM) certification is available.
