Cardew-Mullane Award in Clinical Excellence and Leadership
Description
Established by Mary Kelly Mullane, former dean of the College of Nursing, this award recognizes outstanding clinical skill and leadership abilities in graduating students. The award also serves as a memorial to Emily Cardew, the first dean of the college. More than one student can win this cash award, which is sponsored by the Nursing Alumni Association & Sigma Theta Tau, International.
Selection Criteria
- Must be nominated by faculty, staff, alumni, or peers.
- Graduating student in the undergraduate or graduate program from the fall or spring classes.
- At least two (2) letters of support, one from a clinical instructor, must accompnay a student's nomination.Please have these letters forwarded to kuehnert@uic.edu. The letters should address the student's:
Clinical Excellence—clinical practice that:
- exceeds course expectations or is considered outstanding
- is innovative
- serves as a model
- is collaborative and interdisciplinary in nature
- incorporates patient/family/community
- shows exceptional caring
- demonstrates exceptional decision-making
- is research-based
