Recruitment and Retention

Awards Committee
Chair of committee is the immediate Past President.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and name committee members; with consideration of specific tasks.
  • Review list of awards presented by the UIAA and the Nurse Alumni Association.

Tasks

  • Prepare a calendar for
    • developing the announcements and the solicitation of nominations/applications
    • preparation of application materials
    • meetings for the review of applications
    • design and/or requisitioning of the awards
    • presentation of the awards
    • submit minutes of committee meetings to Board Secretary for inclusion in the Board Meeting minutes
  • Prepare a budget representing the cost of preparing the awards and presenting them.
  • Submit budget to the board for approval and inclusion in the treasurer's report.
  • Notify the award recipient and handle arrangements for the presentation of the award including obtaining pictures for publication.

Bylaws Committee
Chair of committee is a Past President.

Responsibilities

  • Review and determine when the bylaws should be amended or updated due to internal or external factors.
  • Propose revisions or amendments as necessary to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • Recommend ratification of the revised Bylaws by the Membership at the Annual Meeting.

Tasks

  • Name committee members to serve on the bylaws committee.
  • Select committee chair.
  • Determine a procedure for meeting to review and amend the bylaws when necessary.
  • Review bylaws and make necessary revisions to the bylaws document.
  • Responsible for presenting the amended bylaws to the Board for approval.

Nominating Committee
Chair of committee is the Director at Large.

Responsibilities

  • Select and recruit members to fill Board positions, committee positions and volunteers.
  • Develop guidelines for positions and qualifications for Board members.

Tasks

  • Name committee members to serve on the committee.
  • Select committee chair.
  • Contact new nominees to determine willingness to volunteer and participate on the board.
  • Send a letter from the nominating committee to outline the responsibilities and commitments to the Board.
  • Contact nominees to confirm acceptance of the nomination. Determine willingness to serve and discuss the responsibilities and activities of the position.
  • Nominating committee verifies eligibility of candidates which should include paid Association membership.
  • Advise the Board of Directors of the offices open for elections.
  • Receive nominations from members of the Board of Directors at the February meeting.
  • Develop a slate for presentation to the alumni at the general meeting.
  • Coordinate with nominees to prepare to introduce themselves at the general meeting.
  • Record votes at the general meeting. Announce new officers and members to the membership.

Program Committee
Chair of committee is the President Elect.

Responsibilities

  • Development, implementation and supervision of alumni events funded by the constituent budget, such as the annual reunion, regional alumni programs, and alumni/student events.
  • Enlisting the support of the Office of Advancement to participate in the implementation and supervision of alumni events.

Tasks

  • Recruit and assign members to committee and subcommittees.
  • Recruit for specific events.
  • Poll student and college groups to determine ideas for alumni and events for student involvement. Discuss the options for involvement in the Nursing Alumni Association.
  • Prepare recommendations for the board with a calendar of events for college, alumni and student events.
  • Schedule calendars with program events and set committee meeting dates for each program.
  • Prepare budget recommendations for the board to approve requests for funding events.
  • Recruit volunteers to assist the committee in hosting or participating in the events.
  • Assess events and include in each report insights about the events and recommendations for the future. Prepare budget and event reports.
  • Arrange payment of outstanding invoices or deposits receipts.

Finance Committee
Chair of committee is the Treasurer.

Tasks

  • Name committee members to serve on the committee.
  • Develop the budget for approval by the directors.
  • Establish strategies for fundraising activities.

Chair of committee is the Director at Large.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit alumni to fill board positions, committee positions, and volunteers.
  • Provide students with food during finals.

Tasks

  • Name committee members to serve on the committee.
  • Select committee chair.
  • Contact alumni to determine willingness to volunteer and participate on the board.
  • Send a letter from the committee to outline the responsibilities and commitment to the board
