Strategic Planning and Outcomes Evaluation for Clinical Programs Analysis of trends and issues affecting health care systems in the context of planning appropriate strategies for the development and growth of clinical programs and services. |

Financial Resource Management for Nursing Decision Makers
Provide the clinical decision maker with state of the art tools to plan, implement, and evaluate the financial viability of health care programs and initiatives. Prerequisite(s): Knowledge of Excel. |

Healthcare Human Resources Management
Focuses on the development of a strategic human resource plan to support the mission of the health care organization. Current human resources management and organizational performance research findings are explored. |

Nursing Systems Operations Management
Nursing systems operations management of health services. Examines the managerial role at individual, program, work unit, department, and organizational levels. Includes focus on interaction of the organization and environment. |

Examination, through case studies, group and class discussions, and problem-based learning, of the effective utilization of information technology applications currently in place and on the horizon in health care organizations. Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing and consent of the instructor.

The courses can be taken one or two at a time. The nursing courses are typically offered only in fall and spring. Health Care Information Systems is offered at an accelerated pace, and although offered in all three semesters, is best taken summer semester without any other classes. Please see the Schedule of Classes for actual course offerings. No transfer credit will be accepted toward the certificate.
Academic Policies
Students in the ANL certificate are held to the academic policies of the UIC College of Nursing, which state that students are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (“B” average) throughout the program. See the Academic Standards and Policies—Graduate section of the College of Nursing Student Handbook for more information. Students wishing to transfer academic credit earned in the certificate program to the Master’s in Administrative Studies in Nursing must receive a minimum grade of “B” in each course to be transferred.
