Advanced Practice Cardiometabolic Nursing Certificate

About the Program

The Advanced Practice Cardiometabolic Nursing (APCN) Certificate was developed to educate and prepare advanced practice nurses to assist with the prevention and management of increasingly common cardiometabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate additional cardiometabolic skills within their chosen specialty, provide comprehensive, culturally appropriate, evidence-based care, and educate colleagues and lay people about the effects of increasing cardiometabolic risk factors. This online program consists of three courses (3 semester hours each), which can be completed in three semesters of part-time study. Courses are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students enrolled in UIC College of Nursing graduate programs may also enroll in the certificate or take individual courses as electives.

Program Costs
The APCN program is a fully online program, and students are assessed
e-tuition. The current e-tuition rate (2012-2013) is $762 per credit hour.
Students currently enrolled in a UIC graduate program are charged range
tuition.
