Corsini Coast-to-Coast USA Bike Ride to raise money for the UIC Lisa Corsini Memorial Scholarship

Claudio “Fab” Corsini will cycle from Southern California to the East Coast, July 23 - August 11, 2008, in a 20-day, 3,000 mile cross-country ride in memory of his daughter Lisa, who had been a University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing student. Fab's tribute to his daughter, who also enjoyed biking, is a way to celebrate Lisa and to raise funds in support of the UIC Lisa Corsini Memorial Scholarship.
Lisa Corsini, a dual-citizen of Italy and the United States, was a 24-year old nursing student at the Urbana–Champaign Regional Program when she was hit by a car and passed away on September 9, 2001. Following Lisa's wishes, the family donated her organs and tissue to more than 33 people, including an 18 year-old nursing student with heart disease, a 21 year-old with cystic fibrosis, a 47 year-old nurse, and a 55 year-old retired teacher.
In 2002, Lisa's family and friends established the UIC Lisa Corsini Memorial Scholarship, to honor her memory and tradition for caring. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to a deserving nursing student at the Urbana–Champaign Regional Program, with preference to a student whose legal residence is either the State of Illinois or Italy, and who demonstrates a passion for nursing, financial need, and academic merit.
