Research / Discovery
Dr. Hopkins is interested in the study of providing culturally competent, family-centered care. Her research has focused on mother’s perceptions of the management of their children’s chronic condition, specifically sickle cell disease and cystic fibrosis, within the context of the school setting.
Teaching / Learning
Primary responsibility is for the coordination, theory and clinical instruction of the Clinical Concepts and Processes in Children’s and Family Health (NURS 355) course. Additional teaching responsibilities include Nursing Inquiry (NURS 526) and Research and Statistics (NURS 322). Dr. Hopkins also serves as an academic advisor for both undergraduate and FNP graduate students.
Service / Practice
Dr. Hopkins has strong expertise in caring for children with chronic conditions and their families as a pediatric nurse and nurse educator.
