Research / Discovery
Professor Breitmayer's research has been on the development of children "at risk" for developmental problems. She is particularly interested in how biological and environmental risk factors jointly influence development. She has studied how environmental enrichment influences the developmental outcome of socioeconomically disadvantaged children who experienced minor perinatal stress, as well as how family processes influence adjustment of children with chronic diseases.

Teaching / Learning
Dr. Breitmayer teaches undergraduate courses in life span human development, psychiatric-mental health nursing, and evidence-based practice. At the graduate level, she teaches developmental psychopathology and child and adolescent mental health.

Service / Practice
Dr. Breitmayer does not have an outside clinical practice.
