Research / Discovery
Dr. Klima's research focus is CenteringPregnancy® a group model of prenatal care. Groups not only provide a way to provide higher quality care, but clients can learn new skills and create support networks for themselves and their families. Groups in health care are on the cutting edge of innovations in health care delivery. She is a founding Board member of Centering Healthcare Institute, the organization that promotes and explores the Centering group model of healthcare.
Teaching / Learning
Dr. Klima has been teaching midwifery and women's health for over 13 years. Creating a feminist framework for learning and exposing students to alternative frameworks to experience health and wellness is important for future women's health providers.
Service / Practice
She has been providing midwifery care to women and their families for twenty years. Her particular interest is helping young women create healthy lives for themselves and their children.
Personal
Dr. Klima has been involved in an international health care experience in Belize for 18 years. Each year she journeys back to her adopted country, reconnects with friends, and assists in providing health care to hundreds of women. She always returns rejuvenated, despite the hard work, and could not imagine her life without the yearly experiences with the people of Belize.
Her volunteer activities include animal rescue and working to make Chicago a No-Kill city. She is the proud owner of a Shiba Inu named Roki.
