Service / Practice
Ms. Brigell is the Director of Integrated Health Care (IHC) at Thresholds, a collaborative effort with the UIC College of Nursing, which was designed to dramatically improve health outcomes for people with severe and persistent mental illness by transforming a dual, disjointed physical and mental health care system into an integrated one. The program offers primary health care to Thresholds members at three nurse-managed clinics. The health providers are advanced practice nurses providing care in collaboration with a family practice physician and Thresholds psychiatrists. In 2011, IHC expands to a fourth site in the Near West community. This community-based clinic has a focus on women and children.

Ms. Brigell is also the Project Coordinator for IHC Without Walls (WOW), a 5 year HRSA grant which began in July 2007 and will provide community-based services in the form of house calls, group medical visits and telemedicine to Thresholds members. She is also the Coordinator for IHC Extra, a HRSA funded project which expands access to service and increases training slots for FNP students.
