Research / Discovery
Dr. Choi has focused her research on exploring the impacts of stress related to immigration and family relationships on the development of mental health problems among immigrant adolescents, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The goal of Dr. Choi's program of research is to develop and test culturally and developmentally relevant mental health promotion programs for immigrants, particularly Korean American adolescents and their parents.
Teaching / Learning
With her expertise in both nursing and public health, Dr. Choi has taught a wide range of classes, including mental health nursing, community health nursing, health promotion, and research method. Currently, she teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, with a primary focus on mental health and research.
Service / Practice
Dr. Choi serves on the PMA Nursing Advisory Committee and planning committee for Asian American Suicide Prevention Initiatives. As an active member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, she offers spiritual healing classes to the Korean American community.
