Research / Discovery
Dr. Rugen's research focuses on behavioral strategies to improve adherence to medications and health-promoting behaviors.

Teaching / Learning
Dr. Rugen teaches in the acute care nurse practitioner program.

Service / Practice
Dr. Rugen is an active member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties. She is also a program site evaluator for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). She currently is the Associate Chief Nurse for Education and Research at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and a Nurse Practitioner in the General Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Rugen enjoys traveling and downhill skiing.
